Spring game
2:30 p.m., April 5, Royal-Memorial Stadium, free.
Abundance of receivers
Receivers coach Bobby Kennedy acknowledges that he's got a ton of talent at his position, making for competitive workouts. He's looking for a starting split end, and with Jordan Shipley out this spring because of shoulder surgery, there's an opening at flanker.
Kennedy praised juniors Brandon Collins, who is playing slot, along with James Kirkendoll and sophomore Malcolm Williams, who are lining up outside. Brock Fitzhenry is having the best spring among receivers who redshirted in 2008.
Around the Big 12
A brief look at Missouri, which opens spring workouts today:
Spring game: April 18
The practice plan:The Tigers must replace virtually all their offensive stars from consecutive 10-win teams including WR-KR Jeremy Maclin, QB Chase Daniel and TE Chase Coffman. Sophomore Blaine Gabbert has the inside track at QB, but could be pushed by freshman Blaine Dalton. Coach Gary Pinkel had to replace both coordinators.
