After a day off, the Redskins return to the field this morning to begin preparations for their second preseason game Saturday against the Pittsburgh Steelers at FedEx Field.
The Baltimore Ravens routed the Redskins, 23-0, and gained 500 net yards on offense Thursday night at M&T Bank Stadium. Coach Jim Zorn was pleased with the pass protection the first-team offensive line provided for quarterback Jason Campbell, but little else prompted him to smile as he reviewed the team's first game tape of the season.
Zorn was especially miffed that many young players competing to make the opening 53-man roster did not display the effort and passion he expected. The second practice of the day will focus on special teams and will begin at 2 p.m.
I'm working on something about cornerback Justin Tryon's struggles in pass coverage against the Ravens. I'll also try to catch up with my guy, Big Mike Williams, who aggravated an abdominal injury in the game. We'll find out what else is going on out there and will update you.

Practice is underway. No pads, according to @RickMaese's tweets. Santana Moss is practicing, as are Jeremy Bridges and Reuben Riley. Scott Burley is the only offensive lineman without a helmet (according to Matt Terl -- @redskinsblog). The defense is wearing red and the offense white for the first time, blowing Maese's mind.
Missing from practice are Anthony Alridge and Robert Henson, who has a little something more important on his mind today. Earlier in the week, he had tweeted that his baby daughter was going be born today. Well ... let his sweet tweet from 8:16 a.m. announce the news:
@RedskinsLB58: Makenzie Ann Henson born Aug 14th 10:52 pm!! My baby Redskin!!
