Chase Daniel of the Missouri Tigers has been voted the Preseason Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year in a conference media poll.
The senior Tiger quarterback was the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year in 2007, throwing for 4,306 yards and 33 touchdowns. He was a second team All-America selection and finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy balloting.
Daniel was one of five Tigers named to the preseason offensive squad. He was joined by senior tight end Chase Coffman, senior lineman Colin Brown, sophomore wide receiver Jeremy Maclin and senior kicker Jeff Wolfert.
Three Tigers were selected to the preseason defensive squad - junior linebacker Sean Weatherspoon, senior safety William Moore and Maclin as a punt returner.
On Wednesday, Missouri was the unanimous pick in the media poll to repeat as North Division champions.
Auston English, a junior defensive end from Oklahoma, was selected as the Preseason Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year. Darrell Scott, a freshman running back at Colorado, was selected Preseason Big 12 Newcomer of the Year.
